Back in August I posted the ‘world’s hardest tongue twister according to a study that was carried out by psychologists in Boston. It was pad kid poured curd pulled cold’.
I’ve been working with a student who is going off to University to study Media. We are working on all areas of Vocal Coaching as well as interview techniques, public speaking and general confidence building activities.
As part of our sessions we always do a vocal warm up and part of that are a number of challenging tongue twisters. So I decided to set a challenge.
The hardest tongue twister
If my student could say the said hardest tongue twister ten times quickly without stumbling the reward would be chocolate. A good bribe for a chocolate lover I thought.
So a week later and would my student be able to do it? Taking a deep breath ten ‘Pad Kid Poured Curd Pulled Cold’ were beautifully delivered without a single stumble and a huge bar of Dairy Milk was handed over.
This got me thinking. How is it possible to decipher what the hardest tongue twister in the world really is? Everyone is different and so will find certain sound patterns and formations easier or harder than someone else.
Before Pad Kid Poured Curd Pulled Cold was announced as the hardest tongue twister, the reigning champion was:
‘The sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick’
So what do you think? Which would you find the most challenging? Have a go for yourself and let me know your thoughts!
